Casino visitor files suit after being struck from above

A Casino Queen visitor who was struck from above filed a personal injury suit against the East St. Louis establishment.

Louise Ewing claims she was struck on the shoulders by a ceiling tile on May 27, 2006, and as a result suffered head, neck, back, left shoulder, right shoulder, trunk, spinal column, vertebrae and intervertebral disc injuries. She claims she has incurred approximately $12,693.69 in medical expenses.

According to the complaint filed May 14 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Ewing suffers from headaches as a result of the incident.

"That the function of all of the said areas and parts of plaintiff's body has been and will be in the future greatly impaired and diminished, and plaintiff's ability to work and to labor has been greatly impaired and diminished and that all of the plaintiff's injuries, effects, and results thereof are permanent and progressive," the complaint states.

Ewing, represented by Stuart Cofman of Cofman & Townsley of St. Louis, is seeking in excess of $25,000 in damages.
