Beelman worker files retaliatory discharge suit

By Ann Knef | Apr 30, 2007

Richard D. Clark filed a retaliatory discharge lawsuit against his former employer Beelman Truck Co. in St. Clair County Circuit Court April 23.

According to the complaint, Clark was involved in an accident and suffered injuries in July 2006. His injuries rendered him temporarily totally disabled, the suit claims.

Clark, of Ashley, Ill., claims Beelman discharged him for filing a workers' compensation claim over the incident.

The suit claims Beelman violated the Illinois Workers' Compensation Act. He claims Beelman failed to place him into another position of service in a suitable capacity "considering the plaintiff's age, education, knowledge and experience."

Clark claims he has suffered a loss of income and benefits and has suffered psychological and mental anguish.

Represented by Jon E. Rosenstengel of Bonifield & Rosenstengel of Belleville, Clark is seeking in excess of $100,000 in damages.
