A long-time Madison County prosecutor has been elected to serve as an associate judge.
Attorney Keith Jensen will fill a newly created associate judgeship position in the Third Judicial Circuit as authorized by the Illinois Supreme Court based on figures from the 2000 census.
Jensen was selected in the second round of balloting over Edwardsville attorney Tom Gibbons.
On April 12, Chief Judge Ann Callis announced in a press release that there was not a candidate who received the necessary majority (five votes) to fill the position in the first balloting round.
A date has not been set on his swearing-in ceremony.
