Customer sues Taco Bell for slip on wet floor

Taco Bell in Fairview Heights is being sued by a customer who slipped on a wet floor and became injured.

Juanita Carter is seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages in a personal injury suit she filed April 11 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. She claims injuries to her neck, shoulder and low back as a result of a fall on Jan. 6.

Represented by Thomas C. Rich and Jennifer L. Barbieri of Fairview Heights, the incident took place at the restaurant located at 6599 North Illinois.

She claims Taco Bell was negligent for failing to manage, inspect, clean and maintain its premises in a safe condition.

Carter fell while walking between the counter and the soda machine.

She also claims the restaurant failed to have a safe procedure for cleaning spills and failed to place warning signs or cones in a manner visible to customers.
