A panel of 12 regular and three alternate jurors was selected in Madison County's Vioxx trial late this morning.
Opening arguments will begin after a lunch recess.
Attorney Andy Birchfield of Alabama is expected to deliver opening arguments on behalf of plaintiff Frank Schwaller.
Schwaller filed suit against Merck over the death of his 52-year-old wife Patricia Schwaller who died of a heart attack after taking the arthritis pain reliever Vioxx.
Defense attorney Dan Ball of Bryan Cave in St. Louis is expected to deliver opening arguments for Merck.
The first witnesses are expected to testify on Thursday.
