Bankruptcy trustee files personal injury suit on behalf of estate

A boot cleaner

Bankruptcy trustee Laura Grandy claims Millstadt property owners William and Christine Boardman negligently allowed a boot cleaner to remain in a dangerous place resulting in serious injuries suffered by the individual's estate she represents.

Grandy filed a $50,000 suit in St. Clair County Circuit Court Feb. 16 on behalf of the bankruptcy estate of Charles Dean Pruitt.

Pruitt apparently tripped over a boot cleaner at the property located on Krop Road in Millstadt on Nov. 1, 2005, according to the suit.

The Boardmans reside in Cook County, the suit states.

Pruitt sustained injuries to his right foot, ankle, knee and leg, head, upper body, as well as to bones, muscles, joints, tendons, nerves, tissues, membranes, skin, ligaments and vessels thereof, the complaint states.

Grandy claims the Boardmans abandoned and left the premises "without proper supervision."
