Timothy Angel filed suit against Mannzy's Corner Pub in Alton and Joshua Stoeckel claiming he was a third-party victim of a barroom brawl.
Angel claims that during a heated argument at Mannzy's on Dec. 17, 2006, Stoeckel unintentionally, but negligently came into contact with his person causing fractures to his nasal cavity and his left eye orbital cavity requiring surgery.
According to the suit filed Feb. 2 in Madison County Circuit Court, Angel claims Mannzy's over-served alcohol to Stoeckel, failed to provide adequate security and bouncers, encouraged Stoeckel to beat him and failed to protect him even though they knew he was in danger.
Angel claims his injuries caused him to incur pain and suffering, medical expenses, lost wages and has been unable to pursue his normal activities of life.
Angel is seeking a judgment against Stoeckel in excess of $100,000, plus punitive damages in excess of $50,000. He also is seeking damages from Mannzy's in excess of $50,000, plus punitive damages in excess of $50,000.
He is represented by Michael Glisson of Alton.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Andy Matoesian.
