Laidlaw Transit Inc. is being sued in St. Clair County Circuit Court by a plaintiff whose vehicle was rear-ended by a bus near Eureka High School in Eureka, Mo. in April 2005.
According to the suit filed Jan. 8, Lindell Hampton sustained head and neck injuries, incurred substantial medical expenses and his ability to work and enjoy life has been "and will forever be impaired."
Represented by Brian S. McChesney and Craig M. Ortwerth of McChesney & Ortwerth in St. Louis, Hampton is seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages.
The suit does not state where the plaintiff resides, but there is a listing for Lindell Hampton in Arnold, Mo. as well as Red Bud.
"Defendant…operated its motor vehicle southbound on Route 109, at its intersection with a private drive located at 4525 Route 109," the complaint states. That is the same address as Eureka High School.
The suit claims venue is appropriate because Laidlaw conducts business in St. Clair County.
