Hunter sues deer stand maker after collapse

A man who injured himself when his deer stand collapsed filed a personal injury suit in Madison County Circuit Court Jan. 3, against the manufacturer of the stand.

Scott Bregenzer claims the deer stand made by Hunter's View LTD, was unreasonably dangerous and defective because it had a propensity to fail to support the weight it purported to hold.

He bought the deer stand at the Wood River Wal-Mart prior to the alleged accident.

According to Bregenzer, on Jan. 18, 2005, the stand collapsed and caused him to suffer spinal injuries requiring surgical intervention.

He claims his injuries caused pain and suffering, loss of a normal life and the loss of reasonable household services.

Represented by Roy Dripps of the Lakin Law Firm in Wood River, Bregenzer is seeking damages in excess of $100,000.

The case has been assigned to Barbara Crowder.
