Olin
A construction worker who was injured while using a crane filed a personal injury suit against Olin Corp. in Madison County Circuit Court Dec. 13, claiming Olin failed in its duty to provide him a safe place to work.
Robert Hill claims that on April 1, 2005, he was performing construction work at Olin as an employee of RCS Construction.
He claims he was required to move equipment and construction materials by the use of an overhead crane that Olin provided.
Hill claims that while using the crane, the chain in the lifting device fell striking him in the head and body.
According to Hill, Olin failed to provide him with adequate and safe lifting equipment, violated OSHA standards by failing to provide proper safety systems, failed to warn of the dangers and failed to properly instruct people how to operate the crane.
He claims he suffered extensive injuries to his head, back, neck and arms, suffered a disability, experienced pain and suffering, became liable for medical expenses and lost wages due to the inability to work.
Represented by Doug Mendenhall and Jeff Naville of Alton, Hill is seeking damages in excess of $150,000, plus costs of the suit.
