Waterloo Wal-Mart sued for customer's slip on beer

Wal-Mart in Waterloo is being sued by a customer who sustained severe and permanently disabling injuries after slipping and falling on beer in a store aisle.

Lisa McCarty is seeking in excess of $50,000, but not more than $75,000, for an incident that happened July 15.

She claims the store failed to inspect for the accumulation of foreign substances such as beer on the floor, failed to warn customers of the presence of beer on the floor and failed to remove the beer on the floor.

McCarty, represented by Michael N. Cook of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer & Shevlin in Belleville, claims her back and entire body were injured.

She claims great pain and mental anguish, hospital and medical expenses and the loss of large sums of money by the inability to pursue her normal gainful occupation.
