To the editor:
In desperation, the St. Louis law firm of Korein Tillery has notified 3rd Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Ann Callis that they may challenge the constitutionality of a new local rule that attempts to stop the criminal practice of judge "shopping" in class action lawsuits.
Hoping that their candidate will win the upcoming election for the 5th Appellate judgeship and aid in a possible appeal to the rule, they have set the state for a decisive contest that is as contentious as the Karmeier-Maag epic.
The notice to Callis is sufficient to show that Tillery is "shopping" in the wrong forum. This dispute is better served in a court with original jurisdiction--federal court.
Precedents have been set by the local federal court that it has jurisdiction over any challenges to local rules that are adopted under the mandate of the Illinois Supreme Court.
Do not vote for Saline Count Circuit Court Judge Bruce Stewart or any other candidate who is aligned with the Illinois trial lawyer clique. (Dick Durbin, Rod Blagojevich, Jay Hoffman, Ann Callis, etc.).
