Streif Motors in O'Fallon is being sued by a customer who tripped and fell after exiting a vehicle.
John Burns claims he fell on loose rock in the auto dealer's parking lot on Aug. 19, 2004. That caused him to lose his footing and slide down the adjacent slope, also covered in loose rock, into the fence at the bottom of the slope.
Burns filed suit Aug. 16 in St. Clair County Circuit Court claiming he suffered a severe knee injury.
Represented by Billie L. Johnson of Johnson & Anderson in Edwardsville, Burns is seeking at least $50,000 in damages, costs of the suit, attorneys' fees and a jury trial.
He claims Streif failed to warn him of the dangerous condition of the parking lot and failed to place markers or warning devices around or near the parking lot.
