To the editor:
I have read your article posted on July 23, titled, "Contingency Plan," and would like to advise you that I have not been contacted by Justice Karmeier concerning any extension of the term of office I am presently serving and which term will end before the newly elected judge takes office on Dec. 4, 2006.
I feel honored that Justice Karmeier asked me to return to the Circuit Court pending the upcoming elections.
This has been an exciting time for the judiciary in Madison County, given changes in the law including local court rules and policies, mediation in custody cases, and arbitration as well as many important cases from the Appellate and Supreme Courts of Illinois.
I have thoroughly enjoyed handling this docket and working with all of the circuit judges of the Third Judicial Circuit.
