Plaintiff claims she tripped over wires in personal injury suit

Joanne Martychenko filed a personal injury suit against Southwestern Illinois Health Facilities in Madison County Circuit Court July 20, claiming injureis from tripping over cords and wires at the facility.

According to the complaint, the defendant failed to keep its premises in a safe condition by not keeping the walkway areas free from defects or obstructions. The complaint does not state when the alleged accident occurred.

Martychenko, seeking damages in excess of $50,000, also claims Southwestern failed to warn her of the wires and cords, failed to inspect its grounds and failed to place warning cones, signs or barricades in the area to warn people of the dangerous condition.

She claims the fall injured her knees and shoulders, neck and right elbow, all of which caused pain and mental anguish.

Martychenko also claims she has become disabled both mentally and physically and will remain disabled the remainder of her life.

She is represented by Swansea attorney Grey Chatham. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Andy Matoesian.
