Godfrey Schnuck's sued for water on floor

The mother of a girl injured at the Godfrey Schnuck's filed a personal injury suit on behalf of her daughter in Madison County Circuit Court July 18, seeking damages in excess of $50,000.

Cheryl Snipes claims her daughter, Brielle, was injured on April 4, while walking down an aisle. She slipped and fell on water that had accumulated on the floor.

According to Snipes, Schnuck's failed to provide a good, safe, and proper place for her daughter to be, use, occupy and walk while at the store, failed to inspect the premises to be certain they were in a safe condition and failed to warn of the water in the aisle.

She also claims the grocery store failed to properly keep the aisle covered with a rubber cloth or mat, permitted water to accumulate in the aisle and failed to mop and keep the aisle area clean and safe.

Snipes claims her daughter sustained severe and permanent injuries resulting in a disability which has caused her to suffer great physical pain and mental anguish.

Snipes further claims her daughter's future earning capacity has been seriously diminished.

Snipes is represented by Ronald Foster of Beatty, Motil & Foster of Glen Carbon.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Don Weber.
