Marquelus Brown, a customer of The Rio Club in East St. Louis, is suing the establishment because the ceiling fell on him.
The lawsuit, filed June 19 in St. Clair County, claims Brown sustained injuries and suffered a host of other damages. He is seeking in excess of $100,000 in damages.
"Rio Club knew or should have known that its ceiling was dangerous and hazardous and prone to collapse," the complaint states.
Brown is represented bu Cannon D. Lambert, Sr. of Chicago.
The incident took place Aug. 21, 2005.
He claims pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of normal life, lost wages and deprivation of great gains which he would have made and acquired.
