Dawn Reed is suing her obstetrician Soghra Dai-Ashraf, M.D. and Anderson Hospital alleging her son suffered brain damage during birth.
According to the lawsuit filed May 12 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, the defendants "negligently and carelessly mismanaged" Dawn Reed's pregnancy.
Reed claims signs and symptoms of fetal distress were not recognized and that Dillan Reed was injured following delivery.
Dillan Reed was born May 14, 1998.
Reed, represented by Thomas Q. Keefe Jr. of Belleville, is seeking in excess of $150,000, plus costs of the suit.
The suit claims Dillan Reed has been permanently prevented from attending to his usual affairs and duties, lost wages, and income past, present and future, and has become liable for large sums of money in hospital, medical and related expenses.
