People in Business invites new members

By The Madison County Record | May 16, 2006

The People in Business networking group is inviting all members of the business community to attend its next meeting on May 23 from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. at GC Cuisine, University Drive in Edwardsville.

This group is designed to replace the concept of cold calling to build business. It provides a sales approach built upon growing relationships, expanding business contacts and referrals to provide a conduit for continuing business.

Members are encouraged to act as a sales, information, and support system for other members.

Currently, People in Business is developing focus groups to build industry based networks within the larger group.

These focus groups include retail, event planning and production, home improvement, business professionals and services, health products and services, marketing, entertainment and home electronics.

Some of the specific businesses still needed for the focus groups include wedding planner, formal wear, disc jockey, landscaper, construction and remodeling, roofing, home organizing, furniture, accountant, attorney, realtor, senior services, web design, clothing retail, and florist. Other businesses also are invited.

Membership is free.

There is a $5 attendance fee which also pays for a light continental breakfast. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to network before the meeting begins and bring extra business cards or brochures.

There will be a guest speaker and training segment as well as time to exchange information and make appointments for future referrals.

Call Susan Young at First Bank for more information, 692-4300.
