The medical bill that a patient receives usually shows an amount that exceeds the amount that is accepted as payment in full for services rendered.

This is due to reductions for a variety of reasons including contractual agreements, negotiations or government imposed limits such as Medicaid.

State Rep. Jay Hoffman (D. Collinsville) has sponsored bill SB1911 in the Illinois House. This bill creates a deception to juries where they are suckered into awarding the billed amount instead of the actual amount paid. Hoffman is acting as a surrogate for his fellow lawyers.

Juries have the right to know the actual amount paid to consider for awards in their deliberations.

The time has come to get rid of the shill who has sponsored this
insult to his constituents. Will Jay Hoffman pay the price this
November?
