To the editor:
I got a kick out of the story about the man suing for slipping on a basketball court at Gold's Gym.
Your reporter quoted the following, "All actions of plaintiff leading up to his injury were prudent and easily anticipated by defendant," the complaint states.
I have played basketball for many years on indoor and outdoor courts and the problem with playing on the hardwood indoor floors is that most of the "wetness" comes from the sweat produced by the players.
What was the gym to do? Did the man who "suffered shock to the central and peripheral nervous systems" slip on his own sweats? Was he wearing the proper athletic shoes?
This suit provides proof that people will sue anyone for anything instead of taking blame for their own carelessness.
And maybe, just maybe, I have pre-judged the case, but from what it looks like, I highly doubt it.
