Attorney Gary Peel, who tried to remove Madison County Circuit Judge Don Weber from all cases of the Lakin Law Firm, has removed himself from all cases of the Lakin Law Firm.
Case dockets show that Peel sent an e-mail to the courthouse April 13, expressing his intention to withdraw from cases.
Later docket entries that day show that Steve Switzer of the Lakin firm said the firm would send withdrawals or substitutions on all cases previously assigned to Peel.
Peel left the Lakin firm after a federal grand jury indicted him March 23 on charges of bankruptcy fraud, obstruction of justice and possession of child pornography.
Last winter Peel filed motions to remove Weber from the Lakin firm's cases due to Weber's bias against the firm.
The Lakin firm continued sending Peel to court as an authority on ethics after he allegedly stuck filthy photographs in the mailbox of former wife Deborah J. Peel, to pressure her into giving up her claims under their divorce contract.
Chief Judge Edward Ferguson denied Peel's motions March 29.
