Laborer sues UE and contractor for injury

George Huskey filed a personal injury suit against Union Electric Company and McCarthy Building Companies in St. Clair County Circuit Court March 20, alleging he was injured while working at UE's Venice plant on June 6, 2005.

According to the complaint, Huskey claims that the defendants' were negligent by failing to adequately secure a ladder system for ingress and egress to a storm water pit.

Huskey was employed by McCarthy -- the general contractor involved in the construction of the storm water treatment pit.

"…The plaintiff was caused to sustain severe and permanent, disabling and disfiguring injuries to his head, neck, back, legs, and body as a whole," the complaint states.

Huskey claims his injuries caused him to suffer great pain and mental anguish, loss of large sums of money, liability for medical expenses and loss of a normal life.

Represented by Greg Shevlin of Belleville, Huskey is seeking damages in excess of $100,000 plus all costs of the suit.
