Calvin Hall filed suit against a grocery store and two of its employees claiming that he was physically assaulted and wrongfully imprisoned.
Hall claims that Derek Peters and Melvin Walker physically placed their hands and feet on him forcing him to the floor at the Food for Less store in Madison on Aug. 24, 2005.
According to the suit filed in Madison County Circuit Court March 17, Peters and Walker restrained Hall by placing handcuffs or other restraining devices on his hands, arms and wrists and physically touched him without his consent.
Hall alleges that Food for Less, owned by O'Neil Markets, negligently employed Peters and Walker when they knew, or should have known, of their propensity to cause injury to others and failed to properly train and supervise them.
Hall claims he sustained injuries to his feet, ankles, legs, back, upper extremities and neck which caused pain and suffering, medical expenses, lost wages and has lost the enjoyment of life.
Represented by William Kopis of Belleville, Hall is seeking damages in excess of $150,000, plus all costs of the suit.
The case has been assigned to Madison County Circuit Judge Dan Stack.
