Flying J's customer slips on oils and sues

Michael Gibbs of Fairview Heights filed a personal injury suit against Flying J's and its general manager, Dean Oldenkamp of Highland, for slipping and falling on oil on its premises.

According to the complaint filed March 15 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, the accident took place on Jan. 16, 2004.

Gibbs claims Flying J's failed to keep its premises clean from dangerous and slippery substances and failed to warn patrons of the hazardous condition.

He claims the fall caused him to sustain serious and painful injuries to his right shoulder, mental anguish, pain and disfigurement, as well as medical expenses.

Represented by Joseph Bartholomew of Belleville, Gibbs is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 plus all costs of the suit.
