An Edwardsville woman who fractured her ankle on a staircase at a vision clinic is suing for more than $50,000.
Janet Gerdes filed the personal injury suit in Madison County Circuit Court March 9.
Gerdes claims that on March 10, 2004, she went to the Sure Vision Eye Centers in Maryville to pick up a prescription but when leaving, she fell down the stairs.
According to the complaint, Sure Vision failed to make a reasonable inspection of the stair case, failed to warn Gerdes of the alleged dangerous condition, failed to repair the stairs and allowed the stair case to remain in a state of disrepair.
Gerdes claims she had to undergo surgery and has suffered pain, lost wages and her ability to enjoy life has been diminished.
She is represented by Eric Carlson of Carlson & Carlson in Edwardsville.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Don Weber.
