Lebanon nursing home Cedar Ridge Healthcare Center is being sued in St. Clair County Circuit Court over allegations it violated the Nursing Home Care Act, leading to the death of a resident.
Adele Glenn, independent administrator of the estate of Ivan L. Lester, claims Lester developed decubitus ulcers, infection and sepsis while he was at the nursing home from April 2 through April 26, 2004. He died on May 4, 2004.
The suit, filed Feb. 21, also names Covenant Care Midwest Inc.
Among other things, Glenn, represented by Staci M. Yandle of the Rex Carr Law Firm in East St. Louis, claims the nursing home staff failed to timely notify Lester's physician of significant changes in his condition which threatened his health, safety and welfare.
The four-count suit also claims the nursing home failed to provide adequate and properly supervised care for Lester.
The suit seeks to recover damages for violation of the Nursing Home Act, wrongful death and survival action.
Lester suffered repeated pain and suffering and became further debilitated and disabled while he was at the nursing home, according to the complaint.
