A man who claims the injuries to his back and neck were caused by repetitive traumas while operating a backhoe and repairing railroad tracks for Norfolk Southern Railway filed a Federal Employers' Liability Act suit in Madison County Circuit Court Jan. 11, seeking damages in excess of $50,000.

Larry Warren claims that he was employed by Norfolk from September 1970 through August 2005 as a trackman and machine operator.

He alleges that Norfolk failed to provide him with a reasonably safe place to work, failed to provide safe methods of work, failed to provide sufficient manpower and failed to provide safe tools and equipment.

According to the complaint, Warren's permanent injuries have caused him great pain and mental anguish, lost wages and to incur medical expenses.

Warren is represented by Gregory Tobin of Pratt & Tobin in East Alton.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Andy Matoesian.
