Ann Callis appointed partner at Goldenberg firm

Former Madison County Chief Judge Ann Callis has been appointed partner at the Goldenberg, Heller, Antognoli & Rowland law firm in Edwardsville.

Callis joined in March with a focus on commercial law and litigation. She primarily practices in complex litigation, commercial litigation, mass torts and expert representation of local business.

“We are pleased to announce the naming of Ann Callis as a partner,” founding partner Mark Goldenberg stated in a release. “Ann’s impressive legal career and dedication to the lives of individuals is demonstrated in her work ethic and professional determination making her a great addition to continue serving local and regional clients.”

Callis was elected circuit judge in 2000, and became the first female chief judge in Madison County.

She served as a circuit judge until May 2013 when she stepped down to run for Congress as Democratic nominee in the 13th Congressional District. She lost the November 2014 election to Republican Rep. Rodney Davis.

Callis earned a law degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Louis University. She began her career in 1990 serving as an assistant state’s attorney in both Madison and St. Clair Counties.

In 2009, she created the first Veterans’ Court in Illinois, which sought to reintegrate veterans into society.  The Madison County Veterans’ Treatment Court has become a model for similar programs around the nation.
