Patient alleges she broke both legs when dropped at nursing home

A woman who allegedly broke both of her legs when she dropped by a nursing home employee is suing the facility.

Rose Marin, representing Mary A. Doeller, filed a complaint on May 6 in Madison County Circuit Court against Edwardsville Health Care Center Investors LLC, doing business as University Nursing and Rehab Center.

Marin was allegedly injured on Aug. 30, 2014, while under the care of the defendant, the lawsuit states.

The center is accused of being negligent when it failed to help Doeller in moving about safely; failed to ensure Doeller's environment was free of hazards; failed to devise a current care plan for the resident; failed to tell her doctor about a change in her condition; and failed to keep her free from neglect.

The plaintiff claims Doeller fractured of both of her legs when she was dropped by a center employee when being taken to the bathroom. She seeks in excess of $50,000, plus costs.

The plaintiff is represented by attorney Robert H. Gregory in East Alton.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 15-L-574.
