A Madison County trucker is suing his insurance company for allegedly cutting short his disability claim.
According to a lawsuit filed on April 29 in Madison County Circuit Court, John Williams filed a complaint against TransGuard Insurance Co. of America Inc, in Naperville.
Williams, an independent trucker, was injured on Oct. 24, 2009, and became disabled. Two months later, he filed a claim with TransGuard for benefits. But TransGuard didn't award Williams all of what his policy promised, the suit states.
The plaintiff, alleging the loss of disability payments and medical expenses, seeks in excess of $50,000 in damages, attorneys' fees and interest.
The plaintiff is represented by David W. Dugan in East Alton.
