54th Street Bar and Grill sued in slip and fall suit

A customer of an Edwardsville restaurant claims he was injured when he slipped on a pool of water on the floor.

Thomas Detienne filed the lawsuit on May 5 in Madison County Circuit Court against Kellan Restaurant Management Corp. d/b/a 54th Street Grill & Bar of Edwardsville, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Detienne alleges he slipped and fell in a pool of water on the floor of the defendant’s premises, located at 6660 Edwardsville Crossing Drive in Edwardsville, on July 14, 2014. The complaint alleges that 54th Street Grill & Bar was guilty of careless and/or negligent omissions.

The plaintiff maintains that the defendant allowed a water leak to persist after learning of its existence; improperly operated and managed the premises; failed to erect barriers and post warnings of the hazard; and/or neglected to inspect and repair the flaws leading to the wet floor conditions.

The plaintiff contends that he has suffered physical pain, mental anguish, high medical costs, lost income and disability.

He seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus attorneys’ fees and costs. Detienne is represented by Gregory Tobin of Pratt & Tobin in East Alton.
