Woman sues over car crash injuries

A woman injured in a Lebanon accident is suing the driver allegedly responsible for the crash.

According to a lawsuit filed on April 27 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Leona Kaufman filed a complaint against Kevin Peek.

On Oct. 17, 2014, Kaufman claims she was driving a vehicle east on Old U.S. 50 nearing Clinton County Line Road in Lebanon, when Peek was driving another vehicle in the same location and direction. Then Peek's vehicle allegedly struck the side of the plaintiff, the lawsuit states.

The defendant was negligent and careless by failing, the lawsuit states, to keep a proper lookout, to drive his vehicle safely, to stay in his own lane and to pass the plaintiff safely, as well as failing to use a turn signal, decrease speed or give a signal before changing lanes, the suit states.

The plaintiff, alleging various injuries to her financial, physical and mental well-being, seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs.

The plaintiff is represented by Kristina D. Cooksey, Thomas C. Rich and Michelle M. Rich in Fairview Heights.
