Man sues driver over rear-end collision

A Jefferson County resident filed suit against a St. Clair resident for allegedly causing a rear-end collision in Fairview Heights.

William Terry Moore of the City of Bonnie filed a lawsuit in St. Clair County Circuit Court on April 22 against Katherine L. LaRose of Smithton claiming vehicular negligence in a January 2014 auto accident in St. Clair County.

According to the complaint, Moore was traveling eastbound on Interstate 64 in Fairview Heights on Jan. 16, 2014, when LaRose, also headed east and driving directly behind him, rear-ended his vehicle.

The plaintiff accuses the defendant of negligence in failing to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles on the roadway; neglecting to control her vehicle to avoid a collision and apply her brakes properly; and in driving at an excessive speed which was greater than was reasonable for the traffic conditions at the time.

The plaintiff contends that he has experienced pain and suffering, claiming to have sustained internal and external injuries to his head, body and limbs, lower back and shoulders.

Moore seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus attorney's fees and costs. He is represented by Kirk Caponi of Williams, Caponi & Associates in Belleville.
