Motorist sues another driver in rear-end collision

A St. Clair County motorist is suing another driver, alleging vehicular negligence.

Sharon L. Siewert of Belleville filed a lawsuit on April 17 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Megan R. Buese of Millstadt alleging negligence in a 2013 accident.

According to the complaint, on May 3, 2013, Siewert was driving eastbound on state Route 161 in the township of Shiloh. As she was preparing to make a left-hand turn, Buese allegedly hit her vehicle from behind.

The plaintiff accuses the defendant with failure to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles, control her car, maintain an appropriate distance from the plaintiff’s car, brake properly, drive at a safe speed and reduce her speed when approaching an intersection.

The plaintiff alleges injuries to her neck, back, and shoulders, including tissue damage to ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves, medical expenses and aggravation of a pre-existing injury. She claims she endured past and future pain and suffering.

Siewert seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs. She is represented by attorney James Williams of Williams, Caponi & Associates in Belleville.
