Woman sues Morrissey Construction and driver alleging injuries in accident

A Madison County woman has sued another woman and her company, alleging negligence in a car accident.

Gloria M. Ford filed a lawsuit Feb. 10 in Madison County Circuit Court against Amanda R. Morrissey and Morrissey Construction Company of Godfrey.

According the complaint, Ford was stopped on Homer M. Adams Parkway at the intersection of Godfrey Road on July 26, 2013, when Morrissey collided with Ford’s stopped vehicle while approaching the intersection.

Morrissey failed to keep her vehicle under control, keep a lookout for other autos, reduce speed, or brake and swerve in order to avoid the collision, the suit states. During the incident, Morrissey was acting in her capacity as an owner and employee of Morriseey Construction, according to the suit.

Ford sustained severe and permanent neck and back injuries, and exacerbated a pre-existing knee condition as a result of the accident, the suit states. She suffered disability, disfigurement, physical pain, mental anguish, medical costs, and loss of ability to enjoy a normal life, according to the suit.

Ford seeks damages in excess of $50,000, attorney fees and costs. She is represented by attorney Jeffrey A. Kopis of Kopis Law Office in Belleville.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 15-L-162.
