Alton bar sued over woman's alleged slip and fall

A Madison County woman filed suit against an Alton cocktail lounge over a February 2013 incident involving falling on the defendant’s premises.

Mamie Ammonette filed against C.T.W.’s Lounge Inc. on Feb. 12 in Madison County Circuit Court, claiming negligence.

The plaintiff was a customer at the tavern on Feb. 22, 2013. According to the complaint, she slipped on an icy sidewalk in front of the establishment at 1000 Belle St. at approximately 11:30 p.m.

Ammonette alleges that she suffered injuries to her wrist, arm and extremities as a result of the fall. She argues that she has sustained past and future suffering, has incurred medical bills, and cannot earn as much income as she could if she were not injured.

Claiming that C.T.W.’s failed to maintain their premises safely or monitor and maintain the parking lot to keep it free of ice, the plaintiff seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus attorneys’ fees and costs.

She is being represented in the case by Samuel A. Mormino Jr., of Mormino, Velloff & Snider of Alton.
