A man has filed suit against the driver who he claims rear-ended his vehicle.
Donald Szymula claims he was driving on South State Route 157 near its intersection with Chain of Rocks Road in Edwardsville on Feb. 11, 2014, when defendant Gregory Goedelman, who was driving on the same road, struck the back of his vehicle.
Because of the collision, Szymula experienced great pain and mental anguish and suffered severe and permanently disabling injuries, according to the complaint filed Feb. 5 in Madison County Circuit Court. He also incurred medical costs, the suit states.
Goedelman negligently failed to stop when it was necessary to do so, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control and drove too fast, the complaint says.
In his complaint, Szymula is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Mary Mansfield Brauer of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer and Shevlin in Belleville will be representing him.
