Woman claims injuries in collision

A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims failed to yield at an intersection, causing her to sustain severe injuries.

Samantha L. Wright claims she was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer north on State Route 159 in Fairview Heights on July 8, 2013, when defendant Brianna R. Wienstroer, who was driving a 2013 Hyundai Elantra west on Market Place and attempting to turn onto State Route 159, struck her vehicle.

Because of the collision, Wright experienced severe and permanent injuries, endured physical pain and suffering and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed Jan. 28 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. She also lost wages, the suit states.

Wienstroer negligently failed to obey a traffic signal at an intersection, failed to keep a proper lookout ahead, failed to slow down or stop to avoid a collision and drove in such a manner so as to strike the back of Wright's vehicle, the complaint says.

In her complaint, Wright is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

She will be represented by Matthew R. Chapman of Becker, Schroader and Chapman in Granite City.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 15-L-46.
