A woman alleges she suffered disability and disfigurement after a driver struck her vehicle.
Kasey N. Patterson filed a lawsuit Jan. 27 in Madison County Circuit Court against Destini J. Dawson.
According to the complaint, Patterson was driving on Madison Avenue in Granite City on Aug. 6, 2013, when Dawson, who was driving on the same road, collided with her vehicle.
Because of the collision, Patterson suffered disability and disfigurement, endured great pain and mental anguish and lost earnings, according to the complaint. She also incurred medical costs, the suit states.
Patterson blames Dawson for causing the collision, saying she negligently drove in such a manner so as to crash with Patterson, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to yield, drove while distracted, ran into Patterson's vehicle and failed to properly apply her brakes, the complaint says.
Patterson seeks seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just. Attorney Gregory M. Tobin, of Pratt and Tobin in East Alton, will represent Patterson..
