A St. Clair County man alleges he suffered chest, neck, right shoulder, right hand and right knee injuries after a driver failed to obey a stop sign and struck his vehicle.
Marlowe Mosley filed a lawsuit Jan. 15 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Wilbert Williams.
According to the complaint, Mosley was driving north on Third Avenue and proceeding through its intersection with Missouri Avenue in East St. Louis on Sept. 11, 2014, when Williams, who was driving west on Missouri Avenue, ran a stop sign and struck Mosley's vehicle.
In addition to his injuries, Mosley suffered a torn labrum in his right shoulder, a partial tear of his ulnar collateral ligament in his right hand and a torn meniscus in his right knee, according to the complaint. He also incurred medical costs of more than $24,000, the suit states.
Mosley blames Williams for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to obey a stop sign, failed to keep a careful lookout, failed to keep his vehicle under control, failed to yield the right-of-way, failed to stop or swerve to avoid a collision and drove too fast.
Mosley seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
Attorney James T. Corrigan, of Onder, Shelton, O'Leary and Peterson in St. Louis, will represent Mosley.
