A woman alleges she was hindered from attending to her usual duties and affairs after she slipped on ice.
Tiffany Hendricks filed a lawsuit Jan. 15 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against The Arcades Center.
According to the complaint, Hendricks was walking around The Arcades Center building at 6600 W. Main St. in Belleville on Dec. 16, 2013, when she slipped on ice that had accumulated near the sidewalk from a downspout.
Because of her fall, Hendricks suffered great physical pain and mental anguish and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint.
Hendricks blames The Arcades Centre for causing her fall, saying it negligently allowed a downspout to discharge water on the sidewalk, failed to warn employees of the dangerous condition and failed to fix or replace the downspout.
Hendricks seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs. Attorney David H. Bone, of Belleville, will represent Hendricks.
St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 15-L-21.
