A woman alleges she suffered various injuries after a driver rear-ended her vehicle.
Jean Hummel filed a lawsuit Jan. 7 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Allen Mitchell.
According to the complaint, Hummel was driving east on the Martin Luther King Bridge in East St. Louis on Jan. 31, 2013, when Mitchell, who was driving behind her, struck the back of her vehicle.
Because of the collision, Hummel suffered severe and painful injuries, endured pain, was hindered and prevented from attending to her usual duties and lost wages, the suit states.
Hummel blames Mitchell for causing the collision, saying he negligently drove in such a manner so as to cause a collision, collided with her vehicle, failed to stop on the bridge even though vehicles in front of them were stopped due to an earlier accident and failed to reduce his speed.
Hummel seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Attorney Deanna L. Litzenburg, of Mathis, Marifian and Richter in Belleville, will represent Hummel.
