A construction company alleges it has not been paid more than $100,000 for work it completed.
Schaefer Construction filed a lawsuit Jan. 5 in Madison County Circuit Court against Poettker Construction.
According to the complaint, Schaefer agreed to complete grading, erosion control, site demolition, creosote excavation, sanitary sewer and storm sewer work for property at 5 Illini Drive in Glen Carbon. In turn, Poettker agreed to pay it $1,543,600, according to the complaint.
Since then, however, Poettker has failed to pay Schaefer all of the money it it is owed, according to the suit.
"Poettker Construction has not released $103,000 of funds negotiated in the above described contract," the suit states.
In addition to the money it says it is owed, Schaefer seeks attorney fees, costs and other relief the court deems just. Attorney Charles J. Baricevic of Swansea will represent the plaintiff.
