A woman alleges she sustained injuries after a driver attempted to turn in front of her vehicle, causing a collision.
Mary Cordes and Paul Cordes filed a lawsuit Jan. 12 in Madison County Circuit Court against Shyann Kopsie.
According to the complaint, Mary Cordes was driving her 2007 Toyota Camry in the northbound lane on Humbert Road in Foster on Oct. 29, 2014, when Kopsie, who was driving a 1991 ES250 Lexus south, attempted to turn in front of Cordes' vehicle. Instead, Kopsie struck the Camry, according to the complaint.
Because of the collision, Mary Cordes sustained temporary and permanent injuries, incurred medical costs and has been prevented from attending to her usual duties, the suit states.
Paul Cordes says he has lost his wife's society, companionship and services because of the collision.
Mary Cordes blames Kopsie for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove too fast, failed to exercise proper control, failed to brake and failed to yield, the complaint says.
Mary Cordes and Paul Cordes seek a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs. They are represented by attorney Lanny Darr of Schrempf, Kelly, Napp and Darr in Alton.
Madison County Circuit Court case number: 15-L-35.
