A woman has filed suit against the driver whom she alleges rear-ended her vehicle.
Christine M. Staggs alleges she was driving west on state Route 158 in Sugar Loaf Township on Aug. 29, 2013, when defendant Amanda Gray, who was driving in the same direction, struck the back of her vehicle.
Because of the collision, Staggs allegedly suffered severe and permanently disabling injuries to her back, neck and body. She also claims to have endured great pain and mental anguish, according to the complaint filed Dec. 22, in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Additionally, she allegedly lost wages and incurred medical costs, the suit states.
Staggs blames Gray for causing the collision, saying she negligently drove too fast, failed to reduce her speed, failed to yield to other traffic and drove while intoxicated.
Staggs seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
She is represented by attorney Gregory L. Shevlin of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer and Shevlin in Belleville.
