Two attorneys with Sivia Business & Legal Services, P.C. qualified for membership in the "Million Dollar Advocates Forum" as a result of a seven-figure settlement in a Madison County personal injury lawsuit McDonald's.
Membership in the forum is limited to attorneys who have won million and multi-million dollar verdicts, awards and settlements.
There are roughly 3,000 members located throughout the country, which adds up to less than one percent of U.S. lawyers.
Attorneys Todd Sivia, managing partner of the firm, and Reiad Khouri negotiated the recent settlement amounting to more than $1 million on behalf of claimant Cecelia Slack.
Slack fell at a McDonald’s restaurant in Alton after tripping on a defective floor mat at the beverage and condiment area, fracturing her right femur. As a result of the injury, the plaintiff had to undergo multiple surgeries.
Sivia was also named one of "Super Lawyers" 2015 "Rising Stars."
Super Lawyers, a rating service for legal professionals, releases a list of the top up-and-coming attorneys in each state every year. Those vying for a spot on the list of Rising Stars are peer-nominated candidates who are either under the age of 40 or have been in practice for less than 10 years. Candidates undergo a selection process, which includes independent research, and are evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement.
SBLS was also named one of the 2014 "Top 20 Small Businesses" in St. Louis by St. Louis Small Business Monthly.
