A woman has filed suit against the owners of a transit station, alleging she was injured when she fell on a wet floor.
Gertrude Carson alleges she was walking at the defendant Metro's station in East St. Louis on Dec. 16, 2013, when she slipped and fell on a wet floor. Because of her fall, Carson suffered shoulder injuries and experienced pain and suffering, according to the complaint filed Dec. 9, 2014, in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Metro breached its duty to provide customers with a safe place to walk when it negligently failed to maintain and inspect the floor, the suit states.
Carson seeks a judgment of at least $50,000, plus costs. Attorney Michael A. Lawder of Anderson and Gilbert in St. Louis is representing Carson.
