Drive-through collision is subject of suit

A woman has filed suit against the driver whom she alleges rear-ended her while she was waiting in line at a drive-through restaurant.

Wanda Judie alleges she was driving a 2006 Cadillac SRX on Oct. 1, 2013, when she stopped at a restaurant at a McDonald's restaurant at 6300 North Illinois St. in Fairview Heights. Suddenly, defendant Sharon Denham, who was driving a 2011 Nissan Altima, rear-ended Judie, according to the complaint filed Dec. 11 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Because of the collision, Judie suffered neck, low back and spine injuries, lost her enjoyment of life, lost her earning capacity and incurred medical costs, the suit states.

Denham negligently failed to keep a careful lookout, failed to maintain the proper speed, failed to prevent her Nissan from striking Judie's SRX, failed to provide enough distance between her Nissan and Judie's SRX and failed to maintain proper control of her Nissan, the complaint says.

Judie seeks more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Attorney Christopher R. Dixon, of Schultz and Myers in St. Louis, will represent Judie.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 14-L-790.
