A man alleges he sustained head, neck, back and spine injuries after a tractor-trailer driver struck his vehicle.
Darnell Sims filed a lawsuit Dec. 11 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Charles H. Wayland and Superior Trucking Services.
In his complaint, Sims alleges he was driving north on 26th Street near Missouri Avenue on Dec. 12, 2012, when Wayland, who was driving for Superior, struck Sims's vehicle. Because of the collision, Sims suffered permanent and progressive injuries, and incurred medical costs of more than $50,000, according to the complaint.
Wayland negligently failed to keep a careful lookout, drove too fast and failed to yield the right-of-way, the suit states.
Sims seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just. Attorney William K. Meehan, of Meehan Law Firm in University City, will represent Sims.
St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 14-L-791.
